Venosa: an empty street

One of two excavated Roman streets in the archaeological site of Venosa (Basilicata, Italy). Both clearly are secondary roads – no wheel-ruts are visible, and the amount of interaction between the street and the adjacent house-blocks is limited, and characterized by closed façades only interrupted by the main entrances of the domestic buildings and of the public bath complex to the left of the road.
